Stuffed tofu vermicelli soup (酿豆腐粉丝汤)


INGREDIENTS

1 package of Fried Tofu Puffs (about 10)
1/2 cup ground pork
1 bundle of Vermicelli (粉丝), soaked for 15 minutes
1 tsp preserved dried cabbage(冬菜), minced finely
1 handful of green onion, cut thinly
1 handful of cilantro
 
Marinate ingredient for ground pork
1/4 tsp salt
dash of white pepper
1/4 tsp of soy sauce
little cornstarch
 
Seasoning ingredients
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sesame seed oil
3 cups chicken stock (adjust accordingly)
 

METHOD

(1)  Combine ground pork with marinating ingredients, and set aside for 15 minutes.
(2)  Rinse and squeeze the tofu puffs to remove excess water.  Make a cut in the middle of every tofu puff.  Stuff each tofu puff with marinated ground pork.
(3)  Bring seasoning ingredients to a boil in a pot.  Add tofu puff and boil for 20 minutes.
(4)  Add preserved cabbage, vermicelli and green onion, and boil for another 2 minutes.
(5)  Sprinkle with cilantro, and serve hot!

Fish Maw soup (Hee Peow Soup) 鱼鳔汤


INGREDIENTS 材料

1 fish maw, soaked till softened (fish maw = fried fish bladder, available in Chinese Medicine shop)
1/2lb minced pork
1 cup lettuce
few fish dumplings or fish balls  (can be substituted with prawns ball)
2 cups chicken stock
salt and pepper to taste

 

METHOD 做法

(1)  Soak fish maw till softened.  Cut fish maw into pieces.
(2)  Marinate minced pork with little salt, pepper, soy sauce, cooking wine and sesame oil.  Set aside for 15 minutes.
(3)  Cut lettuce into thin slices.
(4)  Bring the soup to a boil in a pot.  Using hands, roll minced pork into balls, and cook them in the soup.  Boil till pork balls are cooked.
(5)  Add lettuce and fish dumplings.  Boil for another minute.
(6)  Add fish maw and seasoning.  Boil for another 2 minutes.
(7)  Serve hot and enjoy!
 

ABC soup (Tomato, Carrot and Potato soup)


INGREDIENTS 材料 (serves 4)

1/2 lb pork ribs, cut into small pieces (猪肉骨)
1 carrot, cut into chunk pieces (红萝卜 )
2 potatoes, cut into chunk pieces (马铃薯)
1/2 white onion, cut into chunk pieces (洋葱)
1 tomato, cut into 4 pieces (番茄)
salt and pepper to taste (盐, 胡椒)
